right here, right now #14 – Monatsendfragen zu Jahresbeginn

Letztes Jahr – so lange ist es schon her – wurde mir von Jörg, der den tollen Blog Welt der Algen betreibt, ein Blogstöckchen zugeworfen. Heute nun endlich komme ich mal dazu, ihm auf seine Fragen zu antworten.

Eigentlich hieß es “Jahresendfragen”. Nun, bis Dezember 2014 wollt’ ich jetzt nicht warten, also dachte ich mir, ich nenne es “Monatsendfragen zu Jahresbeginn”. ;-)

Hier nun die modifizierten Fragen und meine Antworten. Los geht’s:

Wie gestalten Sie das Monatsende?

Nun, ich fand, der erste Monat dieses Jahres ist irgendwie erstaunlich schnell rumgegangen. Er ließ sich nicht ganz so locker an wie andere Monate, aber ich freue mich, eine Struktur in meinen Blog bekommen zu haben, die mich einerseits zwar neben Job, Familie und geliebtem Freiraum ganz schön fordert, aber auch riesig Spaß macht. Für Januar hat das schon mal gut funktioniert. Darüber hinaus bekam ich die Meldung, inzwischen 1000 Likes für meine Posts bekommen zu haben. Das fetzt. Dann habe ich im Januar ein paar Dinge beendet, die schon lange darauf gewartet haben (z. B. Steuersachen) und gestern eine hoffentlich gut verlaufene Prüfung geschrieben. Somit werde ich wohl zu Monatsende ein klitzekleines bisschen feiern.

Welche lustigen Geschichten haben Sie zum Jahresbeginn erlebt?

Das ist eine schwierige Frage. Aber ich kann ja hier jetzt nicht schreiben, dass mein Jahresanfang so gar nicht lustig war. Da muss es doch was gegeben haben … Ach ja, vorgestern erst beim freizeitlichen Tischtennisspielen. Das reicht zwar nicht ganz für eine Anekdote mit Pointe, aber wir hatten ziemlich viel Spaß, denn die Bedingungen für ein Doppel waren etwas schwierig: Der Boden war sehr rutschig, die Platte recht schief und die Decke zu niedrig. Und so ergaben sich viele “lustige” Verrenkungen und Sprünge, um den Ball doch irgendwie auf die gegnerische Seite zu bringen. Wir haben viel gelacht.

Was bedeutet Ihnen der Jahresbeginn?

Ordnung und Geselligkeit. Ich ordne mich und zum Leid meines Lieben auch die Wohnung und alles, was zu ordnen geht. Geselligkeit finde ich bei all den Geburtstagen (inklusive meiner), die direkt zu Jahresbeginn stattfinden. Damit geht so ein grauer Monat auch ganz schnell rum.

Was verbinden Sie mit der Lichterzeit?

Diese Antwort formuliere ich mal ganz pragmatisch: Ich habe den Stromanbieter im Januar gewechselt. Jetzt 100 % öko. ;-)

Auf was freuen Sie sich jetzt besonders?

Auf einen richtigen Winter. Nicht so hohe Minusgrade, dafür aber viel Schnee und Sonnenschein dazu. Das muss der Februar eigentlich bringen.

Was nervt Sie jetzt mehr als im übrigen Jahr?

Graue Tage.

Wie gestalten Sie Ihren Garten, Ihr Haus, Ihre Wohnung?

Ich gestalte gerade wenig. Ich bin froh, wieder weniger Deko als vergleichsweise zu Weihnachten oder Silvester rumstehen zu haben. Das Anzünden einer Duftkerze oder ein Strauß frischer Tulpen reichen da schon. ;-)

Welche Bücher lesen Sie jetzt oder haben sich vorgenommen zu lesen?

Ja, das ist so eine Sache, denn hauptsächlich lese ich gerade Blogs. Was Bücher betrifft: Ich habe immer mehr Bücher da, als ich es schaffe, zu dem Zeitpunkt zu lesen, zu dem sie mich wirklich brennend interessieren. Zurzeit liegen auf meinem Nachttisch folgende (mit einer Lesezeit zwischen vier Jahren und gestern):

Und ich habe mir vorgenommen, sie alle dieses Jahr mal fertig zu lesen (Paris vs. New York ist ein Bilderbuch – das geht dann ja wohl schnell.). ;-)

Kaufen Sie jetzt schon Weihnachtsgeschenke?

Nein. ;-) Auch keine Ostergeschenke. Aber Valentinstaggeschenke. ;-)

right here, right now #13 – a sneak preview to 2014

Happy new year to everybody! I wish you all the best for 2014 and I am looking forward seeing you here on my blog every now and then. :-)

So these are some of the ideas I have for topa in 2014:

1. I am going to continue my vegan cooking challenge as I am going to cook my favorite meat dishes in the vegan version. For that I am still going to use regional and organic food on a budget. That’s gonna be on Mondays.

2. I am going to post something for your ears, eyes or mind on Tuesdays. This is going to include great books and remarkable movies like I did last year. But I definitely wanna go out and see more plays. So if there is something recommendable, you will find it here also. I was thinking to extend the section foryourmind and use it to write about some things that might be worth to think about. But foryourears, foryoureyes and foryourmind are still going to be mixed with my own artistically creations.

3. I am going to ask you where I have been on Wednesdays. This is the section that is probably most about LEipzig. First of all it will be about recommendations on nice restaurants and further more on wonderful or exciting places to visit. Still on a budget of course and still unconventional sightseeing. I guess, these might be the interesting posts for tourists and newcomers to this town (so go ahead, tell your friends! ;-)).

4. I am going to post my findings of the week on the web on Thursdays, ’cause many things from around the web and globe are so inspiring, that I would like to share those with you. This is a new one, that those of you following me on Facebook already know. So I am going to extend this to wordpress topa.

right here, right now #12 – the year in review

Well, I guess, this is it. Only a few hours are left until the new year. So I think it is the perfect time to look back a bit on topa.

I started this blog in April 2013. Today I am having some hundred followers and about 6.000 views on my blog. Pretty amazing, isn’t it? Not to forget all the great friends I made via blogging! It is such a nice atmosphere in the blogosphere, way different to any other social media sites.

I created topa to blog about the cool things that are going on in my hometown LEipzig, since I have been asked a lot before by friends and visitors, where to go and what to do. But LEipzig is a busy city and I am busy myself, so I didn’t wanted to make topa something like a cultural magazine. So I did what I did before blogging. I went out, explored neighborhoods and took some pictures on things that seemed new and kinda special to me. So after all, this blog is my point of view and my view on LEipzig. Not everything on it is everybody’s taste. It’s just a bit of my world and the things I am interested in regarding culture and music, books, places to go, art and food in particular. ‘Cause these are the things that make my life a bit more colorful. Besides that, this blog is about my own experiences on creating something.

But blogging itself was a new experience. Let’s see why.

Through blogging I’ve learned a lot:

1. I learned how to blog.

2. I learned how to use a good camera.

3. I learned how to edit pictures and how to work with Photoshop (which I did the last time about ten years ago). ;-)

4. I learned to focus on things in general.

Through blogging I started being creative again:

1. I started to take advanced pictures.

2. I started to create more fancy dishes.

3. I started to draw again.

4. I started to write again.

Since this is a review on this blog, here we go with some things I thought I could blog about. First of all there were three challenges. Challenges are fun things to do, let’s see how I have passed.

1. Cooking vegan once a week: This challenge turned out pretty good, ’cause since the beginning I am eating a lot vegan and vegetarian meals. I wanted to do that to help myself eating less to nearly no meat at all. And I am doing good so far. :-)

2. Digital Detox Sunday: Well, this challenge was a great idea. But it is hard! Very hard. It goes well with turning off the smart phones and not visiting social media sites. But it is hard when it comes to reading (blogs) and watching a movie. Or listening to music, which is mostly on mp3 or CD in this household. ;-) So I guess, I am doing between good and not so good so far. Let’s say I am still trying. ;-)

3. 100-push-ups-challenge: Hm, I failed. :-( But I need to say, I tried very hard and I was good at it the first two weeks. But it is not that easy, if your significant other, who joined you by good-will, is giggling all the time. ;-) So I gave up on this one.

And here we go with my very favorite posts in every section on this blog:

1. foryourears: Björk’s bastards. Since it reminds me of the great experience seeing her live in Paris in March this year, where I went with my lovely one and my best friends.

2. foryoursoul: About cooking in general #6 – grow your own. It is not a recipe, but it is my favorite post, ’cause I was so so surprised and happy, that I had grown so many tomatoes, since it was my very first tomato-growing-experiment at all. And they turned out so good.

3. foryoureyes: Drawings – Sitting Bear. Definitely my favorite post in this section, even if it is hard to vote for only one, ’cause it includes photography, drawing, concerts, plays. But this drawing surprised me, since I haven’t made a sketch in years and it turned out so good – at least from my point of view. And so it encouraged me to paint more. What I am doing since then. :-)

4. foryourmind: Timur Vermes – Er ist wieder da. I loved reading this book. Since I use to read a lot, really a lot for work, I sometimes don’t like to read in my spare time. Then I prefer watching movies or doing practical things like cooking. But this book was so hilarious, I read it through in record time. ;-)

5. where am i?: Where have I been #12. I love asking this question. It is a funny way to introduce some new or old cool things of LEipzig. And this one is my favorite, since I really liked how that place had changed into something great.
